Let It Rock! Rheya's Spring 2010 Dance Recital

WOW!!! What a busy weekend I had with my little girl!! This weekend was Rheya's Spring Dance Recital. I was a volunteer on Friday evening for the dress rehearsal and it is amazing how much work goes on behind the scenes to make the show a success!! And let me tell you what, it was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! All of the dancers from Kaleidoscope Dance Company did a wonderful job. I am so proud of my little girl and so happy that she is apart of such a wonderful dance studio with such amazing, talented teachers and dancers!

Rheya's class (the 5&6 year olds) did 3 dances this year and of course they came back out for the Finale. Rheya and her class first danced a jazz/hip-hop routine to a song called "Lipgloss" which was just too cute!! Below is a picture of her in her "Lipgloss" costume...

Second, they danced a tap routine to "Spoon Full of Sugar" from Mary Poppins. It was also adorable!!

Last, was their ballet routine to "If You Believe" from Ella Enchanted. This one brought tears to my eyes. It was so beautiful and the music was perfect for their age group!! Below is Rheya's professional dance photo in her tap and ballet costume and also her professional group photo of her class.

It is truly a blessing to watch my little girl go out on stage and perform without fear at such a young age! She amazes me with her talent and grace at just 5 years old. :o) I am so very proud of her.

Back in January of this year, she competed at Seton High School's Dance Competition and won first place with her best friend Brookelynn in the Tiny Division for Tiny Ensemble. Below is a couple of pictures from the competition of her and Brookelynn.

Dance is such a wonderful part of Rheya's life. Not only is it fun, but it is good exercise and teaches her valuable lessons that will benefit her throughout her life.

Meet My Family....

Well, this is my first blog!! I am very new at this. I do a lot on Facebook, however I always wanted to start a blog of my own and now I have! :o) I thought since most of my blogging will be stories about my three children and my experiences as a mother, I should devote my first blog to telling you a little about myself and my family....

I met and fell in love with my husband, Ian, in October, 2002. He was enlisted in the Army Reserves out of Ft. Thomas, KY at that time and was activated in February 2003 to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He spent 6 months serving in Iraq. We dated for about a year and a half and got married August 12, 2004.

Ian's son, Blake Lee, was just 16 months old when he became a part of my life. From the very first day I met him, I have loved him like my own son. I feel so blessed to have him as a part of my life. Blake's birthday is June 25, 2001. He will be 9 years old!! He is such a kind hearted child. He LOVES to play video games. He plays baseball and also enjoys building things with legos. He has some challenges that we have had to overcome. He was diagnosed with ADHD at just 5 years old, but he has come a long way with the help of his mom, dad and I, and his psychiatrist and teachers. He is doing great in school and is getting close to the end of his 3rd grade year!!

Rheya SkyAnn is our beautiful daughter. She is 5 years old. Her birthday is October 13, 2004. She LOVES to dance and has been doing studio dance since she was 3 years old. She is currently taking dance classes (tap, jazz & ballet) at Kaleidoscope Dance Company in Fort Thomas, KY. She is a lefty and I love it because it just adds to her "uniqueness". She is also very artistic and loves to draw, paint, and color. She is such a smart little girl. Some challenges that I am facing with her is her "strong willed" personality (aka talking back and not taking no for an answer). However, she is such a sweet little girl and would never be mean to anyone. :o)

Zander Thomas is our baby boy. He is 2 years old and his birthday is October 1, 2007. He is ALL BOY!!! He loves to run, jump, climb, throw things and do all the typical little boy things! :o) He is quite the handful, but he can be a total sweetheart, too. He loves to give "fisses" (kisses) and hugs. We are facing the challenges of the "Terrible Two's" right now and trying to get him out of the phase of hitting and throwing things when he is angry. Hopefully he will outgrow this soon!! :o) He loves trucks, dinosaurs, music, and dancing to music.
